Gr 6 Up-From Amazon to Twitter, each title in this series explores the featured technology or platform from its conception to current trends and future plans. Key players are profiled, as well as major breakthroughs in the industry (such as Amazon's Kindle in the ereader market). Notably, the series' details the successes and the failed experiments, gambles that did not pay off, and controversies such as the personal information of Facebook users being collected by analytic groups. The comparisons between current industry giants and leaders from the past are also helpful. One such sidebar shows how Sears-Roebuck catalogs reinvented retail, foreshadowing how Amazon revolutionized the online shopping experience. VERDICT An excellent resource for research, reference, and those students interested in emulating these tech titans with future innovations of their own.
