Gr 3-7-These introductions to mixed-breed canines explain the featured dogs' characteristics, physical traits, and temperaments as well as those of their two parent breeds. They also note the variations that can occur when breeds are mixed and include lots of color photos. The books advise potential owners about the care each animal requires, including food, exercise, grooming, and training. A series of questions helps readers determine which dog might be the best fit for them. After discussing how to select a dog at a shelter or from a reputable breeder, the authors warn against puppy mills. Much of the advice about care can be applied to any canine pet, regardless of whether the dog is a purebred, mutt, or designer pooch. The suggested websites at the back of each volume give little additional information.
