"A gorgeous story that...every girl can see herself in...will inspire young readers in your life to dream big." —Chelsea Clinton, advocate and author of the She Persisted series

When a young girl invents something to help her with snow shoveling, she piques the interest of her neighbors and gets inspired to start her own business in this go-getter picture book.
There's nothing Leena Mo dreads more than shoveling snow. Her time would be much better spent dreaming up new ideas and inventions. What if she invented something to take the chore off her plate? After tinkering and testing, Leena creates the robot Helmy, whose shoveling prowess sweeps her neighbors off their feet.

As demand for the robot helper grows, Leena fills orders, accepts investments, and hires more help—before she knows it, her snow day idea has turned into a booming business! What's next for Leena Mo, CEO?

Preschool-Grade 3 *Starred Review* An Arab American girl transforms her passion for inventing and building into a flourishing business in this lively example of STEM-based learning. It all starts with Leena's mother insisting that Leena shovel snow during a blizzard. Leena absolutely hates shoveling. As great mounds of snow clump into robot shapes around her, she gets the idea to invent robot snow shovels. By bedtime, Leena has concocted a duck-like model with an expanding nose cone for scooping and shoveling. She names it Helmy, Arabic for "my dream." The bulk of the book shows how Leena uses the scientific method and a solid business model to produce a squadron of Helmies. First, Leena tests her hypothesis by giving Helmy a trial run on her block. Next, Leena forms a production team with her friends, a robotics whiz and an entrepreneur behind a successful lemonade stand. This production team soon has a squadron of Helmies piled everywhere in Leena's bedroom. They find an investor and deliver the Helmies to eager neighbors. The illustrations, done in acrylic paint, are a great blend of sf and cozy. The ending shows a little girl in Iraq (in the hometown of Leena's mother) watching a video about Leena's business: "She saw an inventor, an investor, a CEO. She saw herself." Inspiring for all.
