A young woman must risk everything to protect the legacy of her ancient Irish clan in this paranormal adventure by the USA Today bestselling author.

Haunted by visions of the notorious pirate queen, Maeve O'Malley first came to Galway to end an ancient family curse. But those tormented waking dreams also led her to the secrets of her clan, and its ancestral lands filled with hidden treasures. Now she must return to Ireland with the medieval relics that prove her claim. But with an ancient pact about to expire, she must act fast before Brehon Law hands everything over to her family's enemies.

To complete her mission, Maeve must find the elusive final resting place of the pirate queen. With murderous rival clans out to stop her at any cost, Maeve is grateful for the appearance of her passionate, destiny-bound protector. But is she willing to make the sacrifice necessary to become a true warrior?

Unlike McMahon’s fresh and atmospheric debut, Bohermore, this sequel is hard to follow; it jumps from graveyard to pub to castle to island to monastery, dizzying the reader. Like all the other women in her family, Maeve O’Malley experiences haunting visions of an ancient pirate queen, which compels her to leave Boston for Galway, Ireland. Maeve believes that an ancient key and ring inherited from her recently deceased grandparents will help her quiet the pirate queen, who she now understands is trying to help Maeve reclaim the ancient lands of their clan. Maeve’s romantic prospects are hampered by her lack of insight and trust in her feelings; she has two suitors, but neither one encourages readers to cheer for his prospects. Despite these flaws, fans of the first book will likely stick with the series, hoping that the queen and her consort will get their own happy ending after 500 years of unrest.
